Terminal Units
Terminal units (VAV box) are local air handling devices, used to control individual zones within a commercial or industrial space. Available in multiple configurations, air terminal units manage supply air from a central air handling station by regulating the volume and temperature of the air.
Types
Single-duct terminal units feature a primary inlet with an integral damper and a discharge plenum, which can be sized to fit standard hot water coils. The single-duct unit is lined with insulation to provide sound absorption and thermal resistance. Reheat coils can be added to the discharge plenum for areas that require supplemental heating.
The dual-duct terminal unit features two primary inlets, one designated for hot air and one for cool air, whereas each inlet is equipped with an independent damper. Dual-duct units are lined with insulation to provide sound dampening and thermal resistance; these units are designed for interior and exterior use.
Single-duct, round terminal units feature a primary inlet with an integral damper and a round discharge area. This unit is designed specifically for cooling, primarily for interior areas that do not require supplemental heating.
This unit is essentially a single-duct terminal unit with an integral fan chamber mounted on the side, parallel to the primary air stream. The integral fan chamber contains a fan and an induction port. The fan operates intermittently, allowing the two air chambers to be separated by a backdraft damper which prevents conditioned air from flowing into other parts of the unit. Low-profile units with a reduced casing height are also available, allowing for installation in places that struggle to accommodate standard-size units.
Ideal for applications where constant room air motion is desired, CRC fan-powered constant terminal units provide a continuous volume of air for both heating and cooling requirements. Our units feature a primary inlet and damper, a fan mounted at the discharge of the unit, and an induction port located in the wall of the casing. The total air volume delivered by the terminal passes through either the primary inlet, the induction port, or a combination of the two, with the total air flow discharging through the fan. These units are lined with insulation to provide sound absorption and thermal resistance. Low-profile units with a reduced casing height are also available, allowing for installation in places that struggle to accommodate standard-size units.

CRC assigns a dedicated engineer to review, visit, measure, or consult (virtually) by analyzing your exact requirements. CRC then generates drawings, performance evaluations, and quotations – while taking responsibility for your product solution. We deliver unparalleled service, allowing the mechanical contractor and end-customer to focus on their core assets and property management responsibilities.
